PLACE eV invites you to another event as part of its “Flinmi” (Remember me, remember me) project.

What: Hidden stories of the Roma and Sinti under the Nazi regime.

When: Wednesday, June 19, 2024 from 4pm to 6pm (Berlin time zone).

Speaker: Isidora Randjelović, qualified social educator, social worker and co-initiator of the feminist archive Rom:nja RomaniPhen

Flinmi is a word from the Fon language (Benin) and means remember me and remind me. It’s an invitation not to forget the past, because it’s a beacon to the present and the future. It’s even more important to look to the past in order to build societies that are decolonial, inclusive, non-racist and respectful of diversity. This requires that we remember these marginalized, little-talked-about people, and make their experiences visible.

As part of this project, we will be focusing on the National Socialist period in Germany, in particular the lives of Blacks as well as Roma and Sinti, on the parallels in the histories of the different communities and on the synergies for a common struggle. against racism and exclusion can be formed.

While our first event dealt with the hidden life stories of Blacks under the Nazi regime, this time we’d like to focus on the stories of Roma and Sinti.

You are all warmly invited to join us on this day. The event will be held in German, with translation into French, English and sign language. Share the event so that many people can commemorate with us, because yes, commemoration is a necessary step on the road to decolonization!
